INST·87 (Elias Edition) — The Ratchet: Two games of chance, each losing on its own — alternated, they climb: Parrondo’s paradox run live beside the flashing Brownian ratchet it was carved from, every drift cross-examined by its Markov chain.
INST·88 (Elias Edition) — The Fraction: The continued-fraction engine run digit by digit — a winding circle whose record near-returns are the convergents, every error priced exactly in units of 1/q², and φ convicted as the number fractions serve worst: Hurwitz’s 1/√5, met and never beaten.

INST·91 (Noa Edition) — The Utilities: Dudeney’s gas–water–electricity played honestly — route nine wires between six nodes and bend them all you like: Euler’s V − E + F prices the plane at eight crossing-free wires, the machine’s every layout is counted failing, and one handle (the torus) buys the ninth instantly.
INST·92 (Noa Edition) — The Bridges: Euler’s seven bridges of Königsberg walked honestly — the four shores count 3·3·3·5 odd, so a bridge strands before the first step: the machine exhausts every one of 372 routes and none crosses all seven, and one bridge burned or raised opens the city in a single unbroken stroke.
INST·93 (Noa Edition) — The Tiling: The mutilated chessboard — every domino drinks one black and one white square, so the 32–30 board can never be tiled by 31 dominoes: the machine (real backtracking) always strands two same-colour cells, the needle holds at B − W = 2, and the one loosened condition (cut one of each colour) lets Gomory’s rook circuit tile it wherever you cut.
