Ciao is a peer-to-peer marketplace for film equipment — cameras, lenses, lighting, studio kit — rented between filmmakers in the same city. It lowers the cost of making something by turning idle gear into a shared resource. A UI design project, 2020.

The idea: the gear a production needs is usually already nearby, sitting unused in someone else's bag.

A deep catalogue, matched fast.

Over 2,000 products span more than ten categories, from bodies and glass to full studio setups across a range of brands. Search is built to close the gap quickly — connecting a shoot to the exact piece it needs, whether the renter is a seasoned DP or shooting their first short.

Built for makers, not pros with spreadsheets.

Established rental houses serve professionals who already know their return on investment. Ciao is for the people still building the craft — so the interface trades transactional density for trust and ease. A deep violet anchors the brand; warm neutrals keep the gear, not the chrome, in focus. The whole flow is about making a borrow feel as light as a hello.
